Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) have become the new target for cyber-attacks. 60% of all cyber-attacks or breaches in 2016 were aimed at SMEs. 68% of SMEs have no systematic approach to ensuring cybersecurity, and 60% of SMEs who were victims of cyber attacks did not recover and shut down within six months.
The SMESEC project (Protecting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises digital technology through an innovative cyber-SECurity framework) is a three-year multi-disciplinary innovation action co-funded by the European Commission and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation in the context of Horizon2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
